“The Rock of Gibraltar is a British overseas territory since the beginning of the 18th century. The place is separated from the border town of La Linea, Cadiz and you have to cross the border to enter or to leave Gibraltar. The territory has its own airport as well as some good reasons to visit.”
In Gibraltar is worth mentioning the English ambience; only a few kilometres from Cadiz and Malaga, you can feel like in another country or at home, depending on your nationality.
Gibraltar was always attractive for two reasons; one is shopping in the city centre and the famous Main Street where are located most of the shops of which many offer tax-free goods. The second reason is already visible many miles ahead, namely, the Rock of Gibraltar, a huge mountain of 426 meters height on whose summit can be found living peacefully the Macaco monkeys. The Rock also has tunnels that were created during the war and the cave San Miguel which you might find interesting to visit.
In addition to shopping and a trip to the summit, you can for example also visit the viewpoint Punta de Europa from where you have a magnificent view of the African coast; take a walk through the Piazza or Casemates Square where the cannon Koehler is set up as a monument. Finally, you can also visit the beautiful cemetery of Trafalgar.
