Festive Lights and Decorations
The Christmas spirit is everywhere in Marbella, with the town draped in spectacular lights and decorations. The Old Town is especially enchanting: wander the narrow cobbled streets lined with whitewashed buildings, all beautifully dressed with twinkling lights, garlands, and poinsettias. In 2025 the display is truly magical, featuring 545 illuminated arches, eight giant LED nativity scenes (belenes), and four decorated Christmas trees across 90 streets and 15 squares. The main squares, particularly Plaza de los Naranjos, become the focal point for festive displays and are ideal spots for Christmas photos.
The Christmas lights switch-on takes place on Friday 29 November 2025. Festivities kick off at 6:00 PM with a parade called “Gift Boxes and Carousel of Illusions” that winds through the Old Town, complete with a flashmob by local dance academies.
At 8:00 PM the official switch-on happens on Avenida Ramón y Cajal, followed by the children’s show “Laughter, Light, Tenderness”.
In San Pedro Alcántara, the parade “Moon Fairies” starts at 6:30 PM on Friday 28 November 2025 from Plaza de la Iglesia, and the lights come on at 8:00 PM along Avenida Marqués del Duero, accompanied by a concert from flamenco-soul star Pitingo. Don’t miss the incredible walk-inside 12-metre illuminated snowball with daily light-and-sound shows. For safety, the council has deployed 370 police and security staff across all lighting events this year.
Christmas Markets & Fairs
Marbella hosts several wonderful Christmas markets where you can dive head-first into the festive atmosphere. You’ll find stalls overflowing with handmade crafts, decorations, and gourmet treats. The absolute highlight is the Puerto Banús Christmas Market – regularly ranked among Europe’s top ten – running from 1 December 2025 to 5 January 2026.

Ice Skating in Marbella This Christmas
A large synthetic ice rink returns to the Complejo Deportivo Antonio Serrano Lima in San Pedro Alcántara as part of the San Pedro Magical Christmas Park (29 Nov 2025 – 4 Jan 2026), complete with a Christmas train and toboggan run.
Alternatively, the Gran Meliá Don Pepe Hotel hosts a public synthetic rink throughout December (€20 for 25 minutes, parking included).

For a proper ice rink on real ice, head 25 minutes along the coast to Benalmádena’s year-round rink at Club de Hielo.
Christmas Eve – Nochebuena
Spaniards celebrate the main family meal on 24 December (Nochebuena). Many of Marbella’s top restaurants and hotels offer special gala dinners – book early!
New Year’s Eve – Nochevieja
Marbella goes all out for New Year’s Eve. Join locals in Plaza de los Naranjos for the campanadas (midnight bells) and the Spanish tradition of eating twelve lucky grapes – one with each chime – followed by fireworks over the marina.
Things to Do in Marbella at Christmas 2025
Take advantage of the mild weather with day trips to whitewashed Mijas or dramatic Ronda.
In San Pedro Alcántara, don’t miss the Christmas tardeo (afternoon/early-evening festive session) on 20 December featuring the show “La Flamenca” at the Recinto Ferial La Caridad.
New for 2025: the council’s “Navidad entre Vecin@s” programme offers more than 120 free community events across every neighbourhood – think traditional zambombas (flamenco Christmas carol parties), living nativity scenes (belenes vivientes), street parades and children’s workshops. Over 600 local performers and residents are taking part, so it’s the perfect way to experience authentic Andalusian Christmas spirit.
Shopping & Gastronomy
