Wondering what to do in Juzcar? Though it’s a small village, in half a day or a full day you can enjoy unforgettable experiences. Here are the best activities to make the most of your visit.

The Graffiti and Blue Houses Route

The star of Juzcar is its intense blue colour. Stroll leisurely through its narrow cobbled streets and discover more than 14 murals and graffiti featuring Smurf characters: Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Grumpy, Gargamel… Many have QR codes that tell you the story of the village. It’s like a treasure hunt!

Don’t miss the Smurf sculptures scattered around the village, the blue Santa Catalina church, and the magical cemetery. The entire village is one huge stage for unforgettable photos.

Hiking in the Genal Valley

Juzcar is surrounded by one of the most beautiful chestnut forests in Andalusia. The most popular routes are:

• Ruta del Moclon – easy with panoramic views
• Ruta de los Molinos – ideal for families, with old water mills
• Ruta de los Riscos – more challenging but spectacular

In autumn the forest turns golden and becomes a paradise for mushroom picking. In spring it smells of flowers, and in summer it offers cool shade. Perfect for escaping the beach and the bustle of the Costa del Sol!

Looking for a bit of adrenaline? Juzcar has two spectacular zip lines crossing the valley: Salto del Villano (200 metres) and Salto del Gran Zul (150 metres), plus a multi-adventure circuit with a climbing wall. They also run children’s face-painting workshops with Smurf designs and themed activities for kids.

How to Get to Juzcar

Getting to Juzcar from Malaga Airport or from Marbella and Estepona is very straightforward. Here are the three main options so you can choose according to what suits you best: comfort, flexibility or price.

1. Private transfer with Malaga Transfer – The most comfortable and recommended option

If you want to arrive relaxed, without looking at maps or timetables and with all your luggage taken care of, our private transfer is the best choice. Approximate duration: 1 hour 30 minutes from the airport (a little less from Marbella or Estepona). No stress, no changes, air-conditioned all the way.

2. In your own car

From Malaga Airport it takes approximately 1 hour 29 minutes (101 km). The simplest route is:

1. Leave the airport and take the MA-20 towards Algeciras/Ronda.
2. Join the A-357 towards Ronda (exit towards Campillos/Ronda).
3. In Ronda take the MA-515 towards Cartajima/Juzcar.
4. Follow the signs until you reach the village (free parking at the entrance).

From Marbella it takes about 55–60 minutes and from Estepona approximately 1 hour 10 minutes. The road is very scenic and well worth it.

3. By bus (the cheapest option)

There is no direct bus to Juzcar. The usual combination is:

• Bus from the airport or Malaga station to Ronda (approx. 2 h 30 min – 2 h 45 min).
• Then local bus from Ronda to Juzcar (about 40–50 minutes).

Total time is usually between 4 and 5 hours depending on connections and waiting times. It’s the cheapest option, but the least comfortable (especially with luggage or small children).
