Things to do in Elviria

Located about 44 km from Malaga airport, Elviria is an urban resort belonging to Marbella. It is a very well-maintained community that extends along the beach and into the hills with a large number of high-class houses and apartments. If you want to enjoy a quiet holiday, very close to the centre of Marbella, this might be your place.

Elviria is a high-standing urbanization with the known complex Elviria Hills (La Mairena and El Soto) from where you can enjoy fabulous views; and without leaving the area you have at your disposal some excellent golf courses such as Santa Maria Golf & Country Club, Greenlife Golf Club or El Soto Golf & Country Club.

Activities

Since life in Elviria is focused on the enjoyment of its inhabitants, the area has no monuments to visit. It has excellent facilities, locations and entertainment to liven up your stay, plus all the services of bars and restaurants. If you walk around a bit, you can find places like the Watchtower or the Artola Dunes, a protected site.

Undoubtedly the most well-known location situated in Elviria is the luxury Beach Club Nikki Beach, next to the five-star Hotel Don Carlos.

Walking along the beach and boardwalk or in 5 minutes by car you can reach the dunes Dunas de Artola. This protected area of natural dunes and the beautiful Cabopino Marina, worth visiting for a walk or to have a drink.

Elviria Beach is very wide and nice for swimming as it is not very deep, besides being well maintained and not at all crowded. You will find hammocks where you can relax and places to practice water activities, so popular during the summer.

Near Elviria there are a few beaches:

Playa Real de Zaragoza

With its 1700 metres in length it is considered one of the best beaches in Marbella. It has beach bars nearby and although it is made up of fine sand and rocks, in the water you can reach an area of smooth sand. It is close to the exclusive Nikki Beach and Don Carlos beach club; there is free parking available. (map)

Las Mimosas

Las Mimosas Beach is a quiet, shallow, family beach. You’ll find free parking, and it’s also where motorhomes tend to camp. The beach is set in beautiful natural surroundings with sand dunes and diverse native flora. (map)

Playa de las Chapas

Beach of about 650 metres long and 25 metres wide, located near the Las Chapas urbanisation. It has beach bars and places where you can eat or have a drink. It is easy to access by car, as it has free parking and although it is very busy during the summer months, throughout the year it is a quiet beach. (map)

Playa de la Víbora

Beach recommended by its visitors even during the summer, with parking and located in a natural environment. The sand is fine and there is abundant vegetation in the area, which gives it the appearance of a wild beach. It is 850 metres long and about 30 metres wide; it has services. (map)

Playa de las Cañas

This beach is somewhat rockier than the others and is only 10 metres wide. If you visit this beach you may wonder about the big tower in front of the sea. This is the Torre Lance de las Cañas, a defensive fortification built during the 18th century to defend the coast. It is a beach with crystal-clear water located in a natural setting surrounded by pine groves. It is suitable for families and has a car park, as well as a restaurant. (map)

Playa y Dunas de Artola

The dunes are protected and together with the native vegetation, surround the only nudist beach in this area of the coast. Although located in Cabopino, they are close enough to Elviria to be considered. (map)

Other family-friendly activities

Located about 500 meters from the beach we can recommend Aventura Amazonia Marbella, the largest adventure park in Andalusia, where to enjoy a fun afternoon among zip lines, adventure games and outdoor sports.

This park is recommended for children aged 4 and over, so you can enjoy it as a family. There are different circuits, adapted to different age groups.

The opening hours are from 10am to 6pm.

You will find zip lines at different heights and circuits:

  • Minikids: For children between 4 and 6 years old. Ideal for children to develop their dexterity along 16 games and 1 zip line.
  • Kids: Parents can accompany the children on the games at a low height of 1.6 metres. There are 3 zip lines.
  • Explorador: 25 activities and 6 zip lines at 2.8 metres above the ground for children, teenagers or adults who want a simple and quiet circuit.
  • Jungla: 15 activities and 4 zip lines at 3.6 metres above the ground, for adults and youngsters.
  • Aventura: 15 activities and 3 zip lines at 6.4 metres above the ground in a slightly more complex circuit for adults and youngsters.
  • Deportivo: The longest circuit of the park is 9 metres above the ground and at the end there is the Tarzan jump, a leap into the void from a height of 12 metres.

Prices range from €14 to €24, depending on age, number of circuits and the season, with Easter, July and August being high season.

Those who are not going to take part in a circuit and are only accompanying people will pay a minimum entrance fee of 1 euro.
