It transformed it from a typical fenced port with heavy machinery into a beautiful Mediterranean Marina.<\/p>\n<p>There you finde a wide range of leisure only a few meters from the historic city centre.<\/p>\n<h2>Mediterranean marina with a wide range of leisure activities<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-467 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malagatransfer.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/plaza-marina.jpg\" alt=\"Plaza de la Marina\" width=\"625\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.malagatransfer.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/plaza-marina.jpg 625w, https:\/\/www.malagatransfer.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/plaza-marina-300x156.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Pier Two<\/h3>\n<p>From the central Plaza de la Marina you enter <strong>Pier Two <\/strong>(Muelle Dos), also known as Palmgarden of Surprises<em> (Palmeral de las Sorpresas)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>There are berthing the smaller cruise ships which have requested direct access to the city. In this area with a very innovative design there have been planted hundreds of palm trees.<\/p>\n<p>There are gardens, fun fountains and play areas and therefore it\u2019s ideal for a family walk.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-466 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malagatransfer.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/palmeral-sorpresas.jpg\" alt=\"Palmeral de las Sorpresas\" width=\"625\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.malagatransfer.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/palmeral-sorpresas.jpg 625w, https:\/\/www.malagatransfer.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/palmeral-sorpresas-300x156.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Carrying on the walk the visitor arrives at <strong>Pier One<\/strong> (Muelle Uno) where are mooring pleasure boats and yachts.<\/p>\n<h3>Museums, restaurants &amp; shops<\/h3>\n<p>There first stands out a large colourful cube that houses the <em>Pompidou Museum<\/em> in Malaga. You can also visit the Museum Aula del Mar.<\/p>\n<p>Pier One is the commercial area of the harbour, with many shops, bars and restaurants. Among them is outstanding the restaurant of the Michelin star chef Jos\u00e9 Carlos Garc\u00eda, next to the <em>chapel<\/em> of the port.<\/p>\n<p>In addition there is an underground parking with one thousand parking spaces. Muelle Uno stores open Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm. Further ahead is located the Pier <strong>Muelle de Levante<\/strong> with two international terminals where dock the world\u00b4s largest cruise ships. Currently there are plans to build a skyscraper hotel at this Pier.<\/p>\n<p>The maritime station and the cruise ship docking area are located about 1.5 km from the main entrance of the port. If you have scheduled a cruise we recommend you arrive by car and book parking in advance or access by taxi or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malagatransfer.co.uk\/information\/malaga-port.php\">private transfer to Malaga Port<\/a> with sufficient time to avoid delays in the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to these activities we can recommend a boat trip. There are several companies that offer daily tours, some of the boats have a glass floor to watch the seabed.<\/p>\n<h2>Transport and connections<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=1nTWmxlQ5QyvXTCyPGbFsZOBU2_w&amp;hl=en\" width=\"100%\" height=\"350\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nThe port is located a few meters from the historic centre of Malaga; about 1.5 km from the railway station and the bus station; about 15 minutes from the airport. The port is connected to two national highways, the A-7 which runs along the coast and the A-45 towards inland regions (Cordoba, Granada, Seville).<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the cruises there is also a regular ferry line to Melilla.
