Almayate has a rich and extensive history as a stable population. During the Nasrid period, Almayate was a main farming area. After the conquest by the Catholic Monarchs, it was granted a privilege for settling near the coast.<\/p>\n

The Torre Manganeta, also known as Torre en la boca del r\u00edo V\u00e9lez, Torre de Manganeto or Torre de Toscanos is a watchtower or beacon tower. It is located on the right bank of the mouth of the V\u00e9lez river and dates back to the 16th century.<\/p>\n

In the 16th century, the Mediterranean coast was threatened by attacks from Berber pirates who would land on the coast and plunder cities and rural settlements. The Pe\u00f1\u00f3n del Toro, also known as Pe\u00f1\u00f3n del Toro, is a natural elevation of the terrain that stands at 92m above sea level and constitutes a natural viewpoint of the entire V\u00e9lez M\u00e1laga coastline. Phoenician Necropolis of Jard\u00edn<\/h3>\n

The Phoenicians were a seafaring people who established colonies and trading posts throughout the Mediterranean. They were known for their maritime skills, their production of purple dye, and their extensive trade networks. One of their most important settlements was in the area that is now southern Spain.<\/p>\n

On a property known as El Jard\u00edn in Almayate, which is situated roughly 400 meters from Los Toscanos, one can find remnants of Phoenician tombs.
